POSDCORB is an acronym widely used in the field of management and public administration that reflects the classic view of organizational theory. Read: https://higherstudy.org/posdcorb-steps-importance-example/ It appeared most prominently in a 1937 paper by Luther Gulick. However, he first presented the concept in 1935, when he said:In order to produce proper coordination of effort, there must be a plan showing what each center will do, who will do it, and when it will be done. This plan is called a program. The effects of this plan or program are known as its objectives. Now suppose that some factors modify the situation or render the program ineffectual; then modifications or new programs must be made on the basis of new information. If we follow this procedure, then we can eliminate waste from the conduct of our affairs. We can also make certain that every activity undertaken is essential; for if its results are not needed to attain one objective, it should not be undertaken. It's a simple but effective system that was designed to encourage improvisation and communication while avoiding duplication and confusion—it's ideal for everyday life where you're likely to have multiple people working on projects at once and need to know what everyone else is doing without creating unnecessary work for them.
